Clear Island or Cape Clear Island lies south-west of County Cork in Ireland. It is the southernmost inhabited part of Ireland and has a population of over 100 people. Officially it is a Gaeltacht island, and while most inhabitants speak Irish and English, Irish is the recognised language.

A short ferry ride from Baltimore or Schull, Cape Clear is a haven for students of the Irish language, bird watchers and day trippers, keen to visit one of the best places to see a host of sea life, including whales, dolphins, leatherback turtles, sunfish and even the occasional shark.

Cape Clear has an annual International Storytelling Festival in September, which has been running for 30 years, showcasing traditional Irish storytelling. There are a few restaurants on the island, and a lively pub scene, many of which often have live music. You can also take a trip out to Fastnet Lighthouse or even visit a famous goat farm on the island.
