Macroom Food Festival 2023


All roads lead to Macroom Food Festival from 22 nd – 24 th September, so forget the bypass because there’s a packed programme of events with something for all ages to choose from.

“There is no love sincerer than the love of food” – George Bernard Shaw.

So true and let’s celebrate that love by enjoying the food offerings at the festival.

Starting on Friday night 22nd , Fun Food, and Frolics, a trio of offerings on opening night with Gombean from Hawks Theatre Co, a one woman show by Niamh McGrath who plays multiple characters with the story of a new coffee van venture. Taste some of the finest local produce and enjoy Der Hurley’s Music, book this early this is a great nights entertainment as tickets are limited.

For the sports people young and old, athletes, clubs or those who just wants to eat well for health there a Nutrition for Sports Performance talk by former Rugby International player Jonny Holland.

Incorporating Culture Night 2023, a book reading by local author Madeline D’Arcy, reading from her award winning “Liberty Terrace”, with music by local group Pizzaz Violin.

Saturday is “jam packed” starting with some caffeine fuelled fun at the Fzin’s Coffee Workshop, if coffee is your morning kick start, or it’s more a lunchtime latte then this is for you. Bring the kids as after that you’ll be ready for the Kids Zone. While you are there take time to talk to Atlantia Food Trials the experts in Human Clinical Research.

SECAD Celebrates Multiculturism Through Food it’s a wonderful universal experience, because food hurdles any language barriers, makes friends among strangers, and warms the heart. So come and join the tastings. Be there early to catch the amazing International Parade led by Shamrock Bhangra Ireland’s Best Ethnic Dance Group. Don’t be in a hurry home there’s a cocktail workshop in Granvilles and The Band Trail in all the bars later.

Sunday’s Monster Food and Craft Market with over 50 producers and all have a story to tell, chat with them and hear their story. Remember you don’t need a silver fork to eat good food, so arrive hungry.

Danone’s Schools Cook Off is a competition for the best recipe produced using local products and cooked live on the day, maybe your local school will be in the final so watch this space.

Lots of entertainment for everyone, music performances on the stage with the Band of the Southern Command and Aghinagh Comhaltas, kids rides and lots of circus street entertainers.
